Guide to Tools

The College of Silence maintains a suite of analytical tools at /data/ to assist students, faculty and visitors.

Data Source

Data for our tools are sourced directly from Illyriad’s official data feeds. Several raw feeds are combined nightly into a single unified dataset used across these three tables.

The data updates shortly after Illyriad’s daily feeds refresh at midnight UTC, typically within two hours. Check date banners to confirm when the data was last updated.

Active Location (Distance Calculations)

Use the Active Location button in the table header to set an active location or town. Once set, any relevant tools can calculate distance from the active location and allow sorting from closest to furthest.

Filtering & Queries

The data tables support property filtering with comparison operators (=, <, <=, >, >=) and text matching (:, !:):

Use the Filter Properties input box to select criteria such as population, race, alliance ticker, or distance.
Filtering currently supports queries up to two levels deep. AND and OR operators join criteria together.

Table Preferences

Use the gear button on the upper right hand side of any table to select preferences for how and what data is displayed. Some columns are hidden by default, select them to show. Click and drag columns to set their order. Table preferences are saved by default.

Data Persistence

Queries, table preferences, my accounts - this data is all saved to browser local storage. None of it leaves your computer or network. The College of Silence has more important things to worry about.

Directory Tables

Towns

Lists all towns currently in Illyriad.

Shows coordinates, town population, region, and owner info.
Set an Active Location to sort or filter by distance.
Contains all data from Players and Alliances, and it is available to be shown or filtered on, but is hidden by default.

Players

Lists all players currently in Illyriad.

Displays total population, town count, race, and alliance membership.
Players can be filtered on statuses such as Abandoned, GM, or Banned.
Contains all data from Alliances and it is available to be shown or filtered on, but is hidden by default.

Alliances

Lists all alliances currently active in Illyriad.

Ranks alliances by total population, member count, and settled towns.

Prospecting & Hunting

Rare Minerals

A static catalog of all rare minerals across Elgea with their locations and quantities.

Nearby Towns: Set a radius to find mines that sit within a specified distance of settled towns.
Mines without nearby towns can be contested with less resistance compared to those with towns. The College of Silence waives all rights and responsibility if conflicts arise (though we’ll sell you military strategies).

Elemental Hunter

Elementals only spawn on standing stones and remain there until slain. Rather than scrolling through the map, use these tables to see all standing stones tiles near your cities.

Grouped Standing Stones

Cartographers HATE this! Rather than visiting each standing stone one by one, mathematicians at the College of Silence developed an algorithm to group nearby standing stones into the smallest amount of maps you have to look at.

Given a zoom level, each group centers the map so you can check multiple standing stones in a single click. You will need to view the entire map frame rather than just the dead center though.
Expand any row to see all standing stones present in that map and their offsets.
Default zoom is 19. If your account does not have prestige active, use the Zoom button to set your zoom to 10 or less.

Individual Standing Stones

A flat list of every standing stone in Elgea.

Set an Active Location to sort standing stones strictly by distance from your town.
Click coordinates on any row to open the world map directly on that stone.

Dear students, alumni, and visitors to the College of Silence,

Welcome.

Our mission is to accumulate knowledge to find the best candidate to rule the Kingdom of Virten. In the meantime, we offer degrees across many disciplines. Our faculty and students spend their time studying history, political science, cartography, and magic to help us reach that goal.

The College is best experienced in person, but the roads through the Broken Lands can be long and treacherous. We created this website to show visitors our work and open access to our public archives and tools.
